Author Guidelines

1. Aims and Scope

The IAM FAME Journal of International Education Research (JIER) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing original empirical research, theoretical frameworks, methodological developments, and case studies across international and multicultural education, pedagogy, educational leadership, and inclusive instruction.

2. Publication Frequency and Formats

The IAM FAME JIER disseminates its publications electronically via a fully open-access platform. Every accepted paper receives unique pagination and is permanently archived within the journal’s digital repository. In addition, the journal is issued in both electronic (online) and physical (print) formats.

3. Peer Review Process

  • All submitted manuscripts undergo initial screening by the Editorial Board to confirm alignment with the journal’s scope, academic integrity, and manuscript guidelines.
  • Qualified submissions proceed to a double-blind peer review by at least two independent expert reviewers.
  • Review criteria evaluate originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and relevance to international educational practice.
  • Final decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection rest with the Editor-in-Chief.

4. Author Fees / Article Processing Charges (APCs)

  • Submission and Publication Fees: The IAM FAME Journal of International Education Research (JIER)  assesses an Article Processing Charge (APC) of $ 100 upon formal  acceptance of a manuscript. There are no submission fees.

5. Manuscript Preparation & Formatting Guidelines

  • Style Manual: Submissions must adhere strictly to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition.
  • Length: Full-length articles should typically range between 4,000 and 7,000 words, including abstract, tables, and references.
  • Abstract & Keywords: An abstract of no more than 250 words accompanied by 4–6 keywords is required.

  • File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in editable format.

 

6. Open Access Statement & Copyright

The IAM FAME JIER provides immediate open access to its content under the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The IAM FAME Journal of International Education Research ( JIER) is a fully open-access, peer-reviewed journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication without subscription or access fees.

Publication Guidelines

The IAM FAME JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION RESEARCH (JIER) a research journal of the International Association of Multicultural and Filipino American Educators, Inc. (IAM FAME, Inc.). To publish your research in the IAM FAME Journal of International Education Research, you must follow a structured two-stage process: the Conference Phase (Abstract Submission) and the Publication Phase (Full Manuscript Submission).

I. Submission Phases

1. The Abstract Phase (Initial Screening)
Before submitting a full paper, an abstract must be approved by the Editorial Review Board.
  • Word Count: 200–250 words (Strict).
  • Keywords:Four to six keywords.
  • Format: GARAMOND font, size 12 (Title: Bold, size 14).
  • Content:Must include the research problem, methodology, and primary findings/contributions. Do not include references or graphics in the abstract.
  • Review Time: 3–5 business days.
2. The Full Manuscript Phase (Publication)
Once your abstract is accepted and registration is confirmed, you may submit your full paper for the Journal/Proceedings.
  • Originality: Papers must describe original, unpublished results. Submission implies the work is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Format: Must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

II. Technical Manuscript Guidelines

Structure of the Paper

Your manuscript should typically follow this organizational flow:

  1. Title Page: Full title, all authors’ names Given name, Middle Initial, Surname , Position, Institutional Affiliation, Country, Email address.
  2. Abstract & Keywords: As approved in Phase 1.
  3. Introduction: Background, significance of the study, and research questions.
  4. Literature Review: Theoretical framework and existing research context.
  5. Methodology: Research design, participants/data sources, and analysis techniques.
  6. Results & Discussion: Clear presentation of data and its implications.
  7. Conclusion: Summary of findings and recommendations for future research.
  8. References: Use consistent scholarly formatting (APA is generally preferred for
    educational research).
Formatting Constraints
  • Font: Garamond throughout the document
  • Abbreviations: Must be defined at first mention (e.g., Multilingual Learners (MLs)).
  • Mathematics: Avoid complex formulas unless essential; render clearly.
  • Visuals: Tables and charts must be high-resolution and clearly labeled. (Note: These are allowed in the Full Paper, though prohibited in the Abstract).

III. JIER Standard Countdown Calendar For Each Issue

  • Month 1 (Launch): Call for Papers (CFP) opens. Marketing and outreach begin.
  • Month 2 (Submission): Submission deadline closes. Initial editorial screening takes place.
  • Month 3 (Review): Peer review process is conducted. Reviewers send feedback.
  • Month 4 (Revision): Authors revise their papers based on feedback. Final editorial decisions are made.
  • Month 5 (Production): Copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading occur. Authors approve final galleys.
  • Month 6 (Publication): Issue is published online/in print and indexed.

IV. Ethical & Legal Requirements

  • Peer Review: All full papers undergo a double-blind peer-review process by the IAM FAME referees.
  • Publication Rights: By submitting, authors grant IAM FAME JIER the right to publish the work in hard copy or electronic formats (Journal/Proceedings Book).
  • Registration Requirement: At least one author must be a registered conference participant for the paper to be included in the Journal.
  • Plagiarism: IAM FAME JIER maintains a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism. All scripts are screened for originality.
